We are going through a health care review in our company. Our insurance renews 10/1/09. From a company perspective we only have a choice of three health care providers. Anthem, Humana, and I can’t remember the name of the third. So we have 3 plans that we can consider.

Why do states have regulations that are so difficult that not every health insurance company can afford to do business in the state of Ohio?

According to hoovers.com (http://www.hoovers.com) there are 5,101 health insurance companies in the USA and we can only get quotes from 3 of them. Why?

Obama talks about competition, but current regulations prohibit true competition.

Even if you go to buy insurance at a company like Assurant Health, not everyone in every state can buy insurance from this company because they are not certified in every state. Regulations in NY, HI, ME, MA, NJ, RI, VT prohibit them from selling health insurance in these states. These are all liberal states by the way. Could their regulations be part of the problem health care is so expensive in these states?

Here is the coverage list.

Why doesn’t Obama want to tear down these regulation walls?

The bottom-line, they want access to that multi-billion dollar industry.

First off it is the fact that each state has different laws and regulations covering the health insurance industry. Second you are asking for the federal government to overrule state government it is not a good idea.

The reason for the instate law, is that insurance companies have a nasty little habit of disapearing when large bills come due, and if you were insured by a small company in California, who decided to change your policy reducing your coverage after you became ill, there would be a problem determining which state laws governed the case.

Its really not rocket science, the law is there to protect you from companies in leanient states taking advantage of you and hiding behind individual state laws.

I worked for a company in UT, part of our contract required all disputes be litigated in the state. It was the only line item that my boss wouldn’t budge on. Later on, i realized why, as he started defrauding out of state companies, and hiding behind his friends in the UT judiciary. I quit of course because I couldn’t in good concious work for that type of man, but it taught me a good lesson about the differences in state legislature and law.

It is all about what rights the Constitution gave the Fed vs state. If it is not in the Constitution for the Feds to do, it clearly leaves it to the states. Yet the Feds, more directly Braq Obama, cares nothing about what the Constitution says and wants the Feds to control everything–they must be stopped and stopped now. Call your Congressman and Senators and the White House and tell them you want their expansive intrusion stopped.

Because with greater competion (and limiting and/or penalizing frivilous lawsuits AKA Tort Reform) there would be lower cost health insurance for everyone and no "need" (by Social Democrat invention) for socialized healthcare. Don’t kid yourself; Obama does not want to ‘reform", He wants to "control" by regulation your healthcare, just like He wants to control and regulate everything else.

Obama does want to tear down these regulation walls. You are advocating for the very reforms that Congress is considering.

It wouldn’t be up to Obama, it would be up to Congress. Congress is given the power to regulate interstate commerce, and it would be within their power to allow people to buy health insurance from any company in any state.

Trying to do this might work providing all 50 states agreed. However it appears the government is looking at this whole thing as a source of unlimited money. The government wants the power to be able to pull the plug on anyone without restriction and that would also bypass the state regulations.

Our government represents the corporations and the rich elites. They have for many years. It’s all about bribes. And both parties are in on it. The insurance companies wanted it this way and the democrats and republicans saw to it.
