Looking for a cheap medical insurance rate with a top company? Here’s how to get it.

Health Insurance

Medical insurance costs have doubled in the last few years, and because of that a lot of people think they can’t afford to be covered. Other people feel they don’t need it because they’re healthy and won’t be stricken with a major medical problem. Wrong on both counts.

Fact is, we all need insurance and there are ways to get a cheap medical insurance rate.

Cheap Health Insurance

Medicaid

If you’re in a low income bracket, your state has a Medicaid program that will provide medical insurance for you and your family if your qualify. Medicaid medical insurance provides coverage for dental care, eye care, health care, and prescription drugs. For information on Medicaid medical insurance, call or visit your nearest Division of Family Services office for details.

If you don’t qualify for Medicaid, your next step is to go shopping for an inexpensive health care plan. There are two types of insurance that offer the most benefits for the least amount of money – HMOs and PPOs:

HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations)

HMOs charge a fixed monthly fee for which they provide medical services that include doctor visits, hospitalization, surgery, and prescription drug coverage. Members must choose a primary car physician who oversees their health care, and they can only receive medical treatment from doctors and facilities that are part of the HMO’s network.

PPOs (Preferred Provider Organizations)

PPOs are similar to HMOs in that you receive medical services through a prescribed network of physicians and facilities. But unlike HMOs, members do not need to get permission from their primary care physician to see a specialist. PPOs cost about 5% more than HMOs.

Why Buy Insurance?

Don’t wait until it’s to late. You never know what may or can happen. Even though health insurance is expensive or hard to get for some people these days it still pays off big time. If you get injured badly just once you may owe thousands of dollars. Don’t get caught without it when you need it. You’ll be glad once you’ve made the right choice and its one less worry off you mind.

Cheap Health Insurance Rates

You can call local insurance companies or go to individual insurance sites to get health insurance rate quotes, but the easiest way to get quotes is to go to an insurance comparison website.

Insurance comparison sites let you get quotes from a number of insurance companies. You want to get at least three quotes, then choose the quote that’s best for your circumstances. If you have any questions about health insurance, the better comparison sites have free info and insurance companies you can browse through.

There are hundreds of insurance companies providing various types of health insurance in the United States. There is long term health insurance, individual health insurance, group health insurance, dental insurance, low cost health insurance, etc.

Long term health insurance pays for all expenses related to the insured person’s ailments including medical expenses at home and hospitals. People who are suffering from chronic diseases and aged people prefer this type of health insurance. Individual insurance is for a person and it is best suited to bachelors and those who are staying away from the family.

Group health insurance covers all the members of a family or employees of a company. If an employee is covered under group insurance by his/her employer then it would also cover all his/her family members. The premium in case of group health insurance and long term and individual health insurance, is little more than the low cost health insurance. Dental insurance covers expenses for dental treatment and care.

For insurance quotes and other benefits, you can browse the internet. There are insurance agents ready to help you know all basics of health insurance. You can get their addresses and contact numbers on the internet itself. You can also get all required information at the website of the insurance companies.

You can also request for health insurance quotes online. When you will request for quotes, the websites providing the information may ask you to fill a personal information form in which you may have to fill up your name, date of birth, gender, contact address, phone numbers, medical records, etc.

Insurance companies are also offering state-wise health insurance providing special benefits to the residents of the respective state. There is Texas health insurance, Illinois health insurance, California health insurance, etc. So you can get the health insurance quotes for the state you are residing to take the advantage of the offer.

Some companies providing health insurance are Allstate Insurance, Progressive Insurance, US Health Insurance, Anthem Health, Assured Health Insurance, AscentAssurance, AultCare, Avesis and many more.

I
Any body that thinks that Medicaid will pay for what you cant afford is dead wrong,
they have never had to deal with the issue, they may take you into a emergency clinic but will releases you as soon as possible with out properer care. And then they try to collect form you or make you penniless until you lose your home and cant work because you will be to sick to work.

Please read before attacking me.
I am a self employed individual and money is not the problem in paying for it.
My home is paid for, all my cars are paid for, I have no kids living at home.
I do not smoke, or drink. I exercise six days a week for at least 2 hours and I have
Never been a hospital with a major illness. I have never broke a bone,
I am a diabetic due to a inherited gene from my dad which is 84 years old.
I do not take insulin, but do take pills and eat right, so my diabetics are under control.
I have been turned down my at least six insurance companies because of the diabetes.
And finally I was told by three different agents- Quote (No insurance comp. in USA will accept me due to my diabetic
unless I work for a company that offers it. Money is not the issue.)
I have since found out millions are in same boat.
IN THE USA TODAY.
If you lose your job and cannot pay for Insurance or for your medicine, you will die if you get sick.
Whether you are a Young person, middle age, or elderly .
IN THE USA TODAY you will die.
They will not pay your medical bills. YOU WILL DIE
If we don’t change health care now, then when?

Hi there.

I don’t believe you. Here’s why.

I have celiac disease, endometriosis, and chronic kidney problems. I have never been turned down for insurance. There is usually a waiting period to cover the pre-existing condition and thats it.

I finished college and became a cardiovascular technologist. I know that any ER won’t turn you away and most hospitals provide the best care they can no matter how you pay. No hospital that receives federal funding an turn someone away. So the only way a person will die is if they don’t get to the ER in time.

Diabetes runs in my family. My aunt has it. My uncle is a self employed contractor. She has insurance.

I’m very sorry you have had so much trouble, but you are not correct.

Now, if you want to fix the healthcare system, i’ll tell you how right now.

Get rid of the illegals who are mooching off the system. For the citizens who get on disability early on, there needs to be a more guidelines to follow on who gets it and for how long. More focus needs to be on preventative care. And finally, people shouldn’t be allowed to get more and more government aid because they have baby after baby. There should be a limit.

The healthcare system we have would work fine if people didn’t take advantage. But instead, we are being pushed into reform that-no matter what Obama says-will have to raise taxes on someone. Chances are, that someone will be the middle class. And if you haven’t read the healthcare bill, you should. Parts of it are downright scary.

Good luck

My parents are getting older now and I was wondering where was a good reliable place I can obtain low cost life insurance for them in case something happens to take care of their bills and wishes? I’ve seen ads on TV and the internet, but I can’t tell who is a reliable company and it would be great if they don’t have to go through a medical exam. I’m not looking for a million dollar policy or to get rich, just something reasonable to help take care of their bills and stuff should the worst happen.

I’m a financial representative and providing life insurance is one of the things I do for clients. God forbids if the breadwinner dies, where would the family be without life insurance? Life insurance can’t protect you against harm or death, but it can replace your income. The problem is that many families that own life insurance don’t have adequate coverage, but they pay lots of premiums for it. That’s because they own the wrong type of life insurance. Take a look at the facts and you decide which product is the best:

Whole life insurance
1) Its level term to around age 100 that builds cash value.
2) Since it builds cash value, premiums are higher than term insurance that doesn’t build cash value.
3) There is no cash value growth in the first 2 years because premiums are used to pay for the insurance and commissions to the agent.
4) After first 2 years, you are guarantee a rate of anywhere between 1-4% (varies between companies)
5) If you wish to take money out from the cash value, you have to borrow it and pay loan interest of 6% to 8%.
6) If you die someday, the insurance company keeps your cash value, but pays the death benefit. Death benefit will be reduced by any loans you taken from the cash value.

Universal life insurance
1) Annual renewable term until around the age of 100 that builds cash value.
2) Flexible premiums as long as there’s enough cash value to pay for the insurance.
3) While premiums may remain level in the beginning, the internal cost of the insurance goes up every year. That means less and less of your premiums goes into the cash value. Eventually, the premiums you pay will be insufficient in the future to pay for the cost. What would happen is that you would either have to pay more premiums or a portion of your cash value will be used to pay for it.
4) Same cash value features as whole life.

Term insurance
1) Various of level term products to choose from (from 1 year to 35 years).
2) It does not build cash value, so premiums are initially lower than whole life and universal life.
3) Most term insurance are guaranteed renewable to around the age of 95 to 100 without providing a proof of insurability. If your health was to decline because of old age, you can renew your policy without any hassle.
4) When you renew, premiums will be based on your current age. So premiums will go up after the initial level term.

Those are the facts.

Personally, I have sold term insurance 100% of the time. Why? Its because my clients can get lots of coverage for low amount of premiums. Since premiums are low, I help setup investment accounts for my clients so that they can build wealth. If you had lots of money saved right now, would you still need life insurance? Probably not. But you probably don’t have lots of money saved right now and if something were to happen to you, would your family be financially ok? As you get older and continue to invest, you may or may not need life insurance when it is time to renew the term insurance. If you were to invest $200/month for the next 30 years and the average rate of return in your portfolio was 12%, you would have about $700k saved for retirement. That’s probably not enough to live on, but at least its better than having money sitting in a life insurance policy. If you were to die during the term, your family gets the death benefit and all your savings and investments. If you die after the term, at least you will leave money behind to your family. With the cash value life insurance, in most policies, your beneficiary will only get the death benefit, but the insurance company keeps the cash value.

As in this quote : “… if you are sick, an insurance company’s best interest is to cure you as quickly as possible. If you stay sick, you are just going to want more medicine, which they are obligated to pay for!”

“cure” will translate to “cure within the health care insurer’s payment guidelines” so won’t the system mutate and kill you off if you are way outside the guidelines.(for example a lonely old person who no one will ask too many questions about and who is racking up an enormous bill)

(why wouldn’t the lonely old person be released from hospital and told for example to drink vegetable juice, as no other medicine is affordable ?
hopefully the person would be, but it mightn’t occur to the system to do this.
The problem patient might be in a ward where there are insufficient beds, so the bed is urgently needed, and the only mechanism that occurs to the ward manager is to ramp up the dosage of an unneeded painkiller.)

Tt’s not that all, or any, health care insurers operate like this, but there seems to be a loophole in the system that allows it.

I have strong opinions about insurance companies or government provided insurance.
The whole point of their existence is not to help people financially in their time of need. The point of their existence is to make a profit.

Therefore, when they pay a claim, they are losing money. When they find an excuse to not pay claim, they make money. When someone defrauds an insurance company, they feel they need to make that money back so they raise rates on everyone, and then install procedures to discourage fraud, which in turn make it harder for honest claimants to collect.

Some companies are glad to continue paying… as long as you are fine with paying increasingly large premiums. Many times the premiums are so large that a normal person would not be able to afford them and therefore must drop the insurance policy.

So to ask about whether an insurer will try to cure someone as quickly as possible is not the issue. The issue is how they can divest themselves of their liability as quickly as possible. Whether it be curing someone or dropping someone or letting them die, the result is the same.

The question is: which is cheaper?

We are going through a health care review in our company. Our insurance renews 10/1/09. From a company perspective we only have a choice of three health care providers. Anthem, Humana, and I can’t remember the name of the third. So we have 3 plans that we can consider.

Why do states have regulations that are so difficult that not every health insurance company can afford to do business in the state of Ohio?

According to hoovers.com (http://www.hoovers.com) there are 5,101 health insurance companies in the USA and we can only get quotes from 3 of them. Why?

Obama talks about competition, but current regulations prohibit true competition.

Even if you go to buy insurance at a company like Assurant Health, not everyone in every state can buy insurance from this company because they are not certified in every state. Regulations in NY, HI, ME, MA, NJ, RI, VT prohibit them from selling health insurance in these states. These are all liberal states by the way. Could their regulations be part of the problem health care is so expensive in these states?

Here is the coverage list.

http://www.assuranthealth.com/corp/ah/#/corp/ah/overlay/coveragemap.html

Why doesn’t Obama want to tear down these regulation walls?

The bottom-line, they want access to that multi-billion dollar industry.

As usual, libs resort to Alinsky Rule 5 – "Ridicule" instead of defending this POS.

I’ve read part of it. You forgot page 30, section 123 about the GOVERNMENT committee that decides patient treatment and page 59, lines 21-24 that gives the GOVERNMENT direct access to our bank accounts for electronic fund transfer and page 425, lines 4-19 where it talks about the advance care planning consults that are mandatory.

How is it the GOVERNMENT’S business about my living will/power of attorney/treatment? What gives them the right to say that a 40 year old has more worth than a 65 year old?

This is really scary! No wonder it only has a 43% approval. It’s a dangerous scam!
